Two arrested following a foot chase in Newtown

I wanted to update you on some positive work carried out yesterday in the Newtown area. Beat officers attended an address known for drug use and anti‑social behaviour. As they approached, two males jumped from a ground‑floor window and attempted to flee. Officers pursued them and successfully detained both individuals in Wainwright Place.

A search was conducted, during which officers recovered a quantity of drugs and several weapons. Both males were arrested at the scene. One has since been recalled to prison, and the other has been released on bail while enquiries continue.

We remain committed to keeping our community safe and will continue to act on intelligence and disrupt those involved in criminal activity.
